A painful read that was worth the knowledge within

I think I would have disliked this book less if it did not contain any useful knowledge, at least it would have saved me the pain of reading through the dry as sandpaper prose. It manages to have long winding sentences that fail to even be poetic or colourful. An example opening passage:
